Multiple Table Poker Tournaments
Two known major types of poker tournaments are single and multiple table tournaments. Looking deeper into each type, single table tournaments literally mean poker tournaments involving a maximum of nine players on one table.
But for some single tournaments, they would only require a maximum of six players. On the other hand, multiple table tournaments would indicate multiple players simultaneously playing on multiple tables.
The winner in multiple table poker tournaments is determined through facing winners of each table against each other until only one table is left where the winner of that final table shall be declared the winner and awarded the pot money.
Why Go for Multiple Poker Tournaments?
In multiple table poker tournaments, some tournaments hold small pre-tournament events. These are called satellite poker tournaments where the winner is given the privilege to continue on to the bigger main poker tournament as prize for winning the tournament. These main poker tournaments are usually the prestigious poker tournaments popularly known and recognized by poker players and enthusiasts.
Satellite tournaments are commonly entered by players since most satellite tournaments offer as prize to the winner an entry to the main poker tournament. For players, this means that they need not pay the entry fee for the main poker tournament.
Through this structure, players save more money, taking the winner into consideration, since the buy-in amount of satellite tournaments are much less expensive than that of the main poker tournament. By winning a satellite tournament, a player is guaranteed a seat without the need to pay an additional entry fee into the main poker tournament.
Shootout Tournaments
A more defined and structured multiple table poker tournaments is a shootout tournament. In these shootout poker tournaments, all simultaneous playing tables will have their winners compete each other until there are nine or less players left playing for the pot money. Under shootout tournaments, there are double and triple shootout tournaments.
Double shootout simply requires players to win over two tables to get them a seat in the final table. On the other hand, triple shootout requires players to win over three tables to get to the final round. Since the number of players is never definite at the beginning of a poker tournament, shootout tournaments may reach up to quintuple shootout tournaments and so on, in order to determine nine or less players to face each other at the final table.
