Texas Holdem Poker Rules

The poker game is one of the most popular casino games throughout the world. Thus game is played by use of cards and involves betting. As is the case with all games there are always laid down rules and regulations that oversee how the game is to be played. These rules help regulate the manner in which the game is played and will always stipulate what one is required to do in order to be considered a winner or a loser. These rules also make it clear the allowed practices in the game and what is considered as a malpractice in the game.

To begin with it is important to note that there are various types of poker games, the most popular being Omaha, Texas Holdem, Seven Card Stud and Omaha Hi- Lo. For every single poker game there are distinct rules although, most of the rules are standard for all poker games.

For instance, when playing the Texas Holdem game it is important to remember that this game usually has at least four betting rounds. One of the participating players will normally act as the dealer and each player will get an opportunity of acting as the dealer since this position is rotational and changes at the end of every hand. Players sitting on the left hand side of the dealer are the only ones whose pots have money way before dealing of cards begin. They are normally referred to as the small and the big blinds.

The rules of the game are that each player should have a specified number of cards which are normally two. These cards must face downwards and thus the players cannot know the values of these cards. When the first round begins all the players are required to sit on the left hand side of the blinds. Immediately after the end of the first round of betting what is known as flop occurs. Normally this is where a maximum number of three cards which are the community type of cards are flipped and they face up showing the value of each card.

Upon the commencement of the second round, it is only one player who remains on the left hand side of the dealer and usually this is the first player. In Texas Holdem, betting is normally done in a clockwise manner. At the end of this round of betting yet another card which is a community card type is flipped bringing the number of flipped cards to four.

Again upon the commencement of the third round of betting the first player still remains seated on the left hand side of the dealer. Players must always remember that the best hand is always made by combining both the community cards and the hole cards.

It is at the end of the fourth round that the last flip up card is put on the table by the dealer. The last two rounds are commenced by the players on the left hand side of the dealer.
