Learn poker strategies before risking real money

Just recently, I started playing texas holdem at the free money sections online at pokerstars. I actually had a fun time but I felt things weren’t that realistic. It seemed that everything was not for real because there was no real money involved. There was no risk, so players never fold, as a result, there was no thrill at all.

I was just curious if there’s something you could recommend to a player like me who is just starting and understands the basic rules but wants to be equipped with strategies to eventually play on real money tables.

You can do one of two things. First, you can play in some of the higher stakes free money games, or play in some of the larger free money sit n go’s. You’re right about some of the play being unrealistic. What I have found out however is that in larger games, when you get deep in them, the players actually try to start playing properly.

I would work on your game in play money games like you do in real money. I play a lot of play money games still and approach the game similar to real money, especially in the later stages.
