Am I an Unlucky Player?

Do you believe in unlucky players? Well, I am starting to actually believe that they really exist because of my past experiences.

One event I couldn’t really get rid from my memory was my experience in a spread limit. I went there to play $2-5 last weekend hoping that I would win. But just after about 3 hours of playing I had the same player hit four of a kind on me and me ending up with Aces full of Kings on 1 and nut straight on the other on the table. But things eventually went out of track.

This actually happens to me a lot of times. Pocket Aces losing to Queens, pocket Kings to Jacks, and the like. Sometimes, I react unlikely, but then I realize keeping my composure in situations like that will be more advantageous for me in the long run.

At times, I ponder on if luck is more intervening than skills or if luck really exist in the realms of poker. If luck’s really a factor to consider, then how am I supposed to deal with it? By the way, I haven’t been able to play months at a time, I hope it’s not the reason for me having bad games.

Thanks a lot. Great site!

Kevin,

Luck is a part of poker. Unfortunately, you have seemed to hit a long streak of bad luck. When you have a lot of bad beats and suckouts, the only thing to do is to keep plugging away.

If it becomes too stressful, take some time away from the table. Short term luck usually give way to long term skill. Play well and eventually things will even out.
