Cheating In The Poker Game Of Cards
There are many games that are played in casinos in the world today and even from time immemorial. Besides getting entertained while engaging in the casino games, the main reason for which many people engage in casino games is to win money. The most common games in casinos are card games with poker being the most popular and apparently one of the oldest casino games.
Every casino game be it a card game or whichever other form it takes has specified rules and regulations that oversee the manner in which the game is played. The rules are normally standard although they sometimes vary slightly depending on the particular casino from where one is playing the game. It is very important that one ensures that they are familiar with the rules of the game both the standard rules and the other rules that are referred to as in house rules which are rules that are setting by the particular casino from which the game is being played. However practice and experience has it that despite the fact that players are well aware of the rules of the game they still engage in some truancy and malpractices. Normally these malpractices are aimed at enabling a player to win without necessarily following the rules of the game.
Normally a player who engages in such practices usually has an unfair advantage over other players and it is for this reason that such a practice is referred to as a malpractice. A malpractice thus in the poker game of cards is any practice which is not within the rules of the game and gives one who engages in it an unfair benefit or advantage over other players in the game. There are main ways in which one can engage in cheating in the poker game the most common being collusion. Collusion basically involves players joining up and engaging in malpractices and money won is shared among the players who participated in the malpractice. Usually in collusion, players will have a common strategy which is not known to other players.
The main forms of collusion include failing to make a bet or to increase one’s bet which is referred to as raising in a situation that ordinarily one would be expected to make a bet or raise a malpractice commonly referred to as soft play. Some players even go to the extent of evading making payments of the house fees which is a required some of money which every player must pay by virtue of participating in a particular game. Normally some of the minor yet grave mistakes are not dealt with because to begin with it is very difficult to get someone red handed engaging in such practices. Secondly, most of the people who are engaged in such practices always ensure that they do in such manner that when caught they can always defend themselves as having committed a mistake which in their honest belief does not constitute a malpractice.
