One On One With Freddy Deeb

Freddy Deeb did not get into poker games for the love of it. He was forced to play poker due to financial difficulties that he was facing. Despite a not so rosy past Freddy has managed to turn around his life from that of financial woes to financial success. In all the years that he has played the game of poker, he has managed to amass more than three million dollars in successful bets.

Freddy Deep admits that he came to America on a student visa with an aim of successfully completing his studies but this was not to be. After spending some time in America a war broke out in his mother country. The war shut down all forms of communication that he might have had with his parents. With a life to live and school fees to pay Freddy had to find a way of sustaining himself.

He never thought it wise to go back to Lebanon on the premise that he did not want to get himself into the war. As a student in Utah he used to go to a border town to play poker and gamble a bit. Since he was on a student visa he was not able to work thus poker provided the reprieve.

Like any other new poker player, Freddy made mistakes that he regrets to date. One of the mistakes that he made was going into casinos to play games that were not related to poker, while at the same time hoping that with time, he would improve on his poker playing skills.

He says that his worst games were Dice and baccarat because they did not allow one to control the game. Freddy Deeb became a professional poker player without noticing it. He could sleep, wake up and play poker to sustain himself. He found the lifestyle of playing poker to be very convenient for him that he never at any one time thought of getting another job.

Even though he was making substantial money out of playing poker, he could not tell his family back at home that this is what he was doing. This is because they could have found it hard to understand.

In Middle East playing poker was something that was done under cover. In America, explaining to someone that you were making your life out of playing poker was difficult. You can thus imagine how more difficult it could have been explaining the same to a person from Middle East at the time.

As his game got better, and as he made modest amount of money out of playing poker, Freddy started helping his family members sort out their financial woes. He later invited his father to visit America to see first hand how life there was.

Father flew to America upon invitation from son and later son took father out to see how he made his money. Father got amazed but there was nothing he could do about it.

Freddy Deeb reckons that cash games are better than any other form of poker. He also believes that playing at poker tournaments is healthy for a poker player.
