Coming in under the poker radar part two

The new legislation that came out of the United State during the latter stages of 2006 made the situation even worse and especially with limit hold’em Texas Holdem . I find that I can exploit very good players far better in no limit hold’em cash games online than I can limit games. But as I have said before, you must remember that I am not advising you to follow my approach. There will be many players playing at the lower levels who simply will not need to do this. The players will be poor at the levels that they are playing at and most of them won’t even have heard of Poker Office let alone be using it.

Just because I take these precautions does not mean that I am telling anyone else to do the same. In fact I would strongly recommend that unless you are playing beyond certain limits to totally and utterly ignore what I have just said. But this just further underlines that for any novice player to even come close to succeeding, they must at some stage develop styles and tactics that suit their own particular situation and personality. I learnt this long ago and it certainly quantum leaped me forward in my understanding not just of the game but also of myself.

There will be many people who read this article with the full intention of it telling them how to beat cash games. It will certainly do that but only if you read it properly and take in fully what I am really trying to say. This feat is not always easy as there can sometimes be a gap between what an author is trying to say from what actually gets said to what gets interpreted by the reader. I have a name for this and call it the “understanding gap” and is a problem when you are reading a book or article without listening to the author speak.

But I have seen many players come and go in the online poker arena over the years who took no precaution whatsoever to further educate themselves in just what they were actually going up against in online poker. Most of them have failed for the simple reason that they have not advanced their games enough and their opponents on average have caught them up and surpassed them. The lengths that I take now to conceal my identity and prevent people from data mining me will be costing me some profit. But on the flip side to that is that I am convinced that I will still be making money from online poker long after many previously successful winners have gone to the wall wther they are playing online poker tournaments or cash games.

You can say that what I am doing is wrong and you may well be right, but remember that in the games that I usually play in then the player pools are a lot smaller and everyone gets to know everyone else in a very short space of time.

Until someone convinces me that I am wrong then I will continue doing what I am doing. To me, this is all part of the fun. I remember back when I was playing blackjack, the biggest buzz was not in winning the money but in getting away with it. Perhaps now you will once again understand why I do not place too much emphasis on attaining rakeback for me personally.
